Description

The Viejita Dwarf Cichlid (Apistogramma viejita) is a remarkable dwarf cichlid that is very distinctive in its golden base with red markings. Males are typically more colorful than females and can grow to double the size, females have minimal red pigment. The dwarf cichlid will thrive in a planted aquarium and make an excellent companion with our Stendker discus fish and Åpex angels.

The Apistogramma viejita is peaceful and will live in good harmony with other species, however like most cichlids this fish will exhibit territorial behavior when multiple males are present, shelter (rocks and wood) and plants will help provide a suitable set up.

Fish Size Guide:

The ‘Maximum Size’ outlined below is the length this fish can reach as a full grown adult. For the actual size please use the select menu above.

Discus.ae prefers younger stock for their better ability to adapt to new water parameters and higher tolerance against transport. On rare occasions you may receive larger specimens when small fish are unavailable, however the smallest should be expected unless the size is noted as “Large” or “Adult”.
